Our Story and Legacy
Global Institute of Public Health
The Global Institute of Public Health was born out of a shared vision among Indian public health visionaries who recognized the need for specialized, world-class training in this field. With a shortage of institutions in Asia offering comprehensive, practice-oriented programs, GIPH was conceptualized as a state-of-the-art public health institute catering to the needs of India and similar developing nations.
Founded under the Ananthapuri Educational Trust, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in health and medical education, GIPH draws strength from its integration with the Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute (AHRI) — a 500-bedded tertiary care teaching hospital. This provides students and researchers with access to clinical, community, and research facilities that blend theory with practice.
Over the years, GIPH has evolved into a vibrant hub of interdisciplinary learning and research — bringing together experts, policymakers, and scholars from around the world. Its collaborations with leading universities, research centres, and organizations have positioned it at the forefront of public health education in India.
