Dr. Anant Kumar
Professor and Head, Rural Management Programme, Xavier Institute of Social Service
Dr. Anant Kumar is a Fulbright Scholar and Professor and Head of the Rural Management Programme at Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, India. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Public Health Leadership Programme at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the United States.
He trained in psychology at the University of Allahabad and in Social Medicine and Community Health at the Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He is associated with professional groups and organisations, has published in national and international journals and serves as a reviewer for several journals.
Dr. Kumar received the Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship and was awarded a Guest Fellow position at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. His work and research interests include public health, women's health, mental health, HIV/AIDS, population and reproductive health, international health, public health policy and leadership.
At GIPH, he teaches Health and Development and Public Health and Policy.
